It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was out her side required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
