19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional title, took control to force a decider.

Moutet defended 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
